Eccles Special Schools, Salford

About this project

The Eccles contract consists of three new build Special Educational Needs High schools situated on two sites, which have been operating since March 2003.    The schools have all been relocated from their original sites, with the phased openings of each school between 2005/06.  New Park High School is specifically for young people who have behavioural problems and have left mainstream schools.  Oakwood High School and Chatsworth High School are designed for young people with severe learning and physical disabilities.

The schools are wholly owned by Semperian, who also manages the on-going obligations of the PFI project through a concession, which is scheduled to terminate in 2030.  Semperian’s partner and principal building occupier is Salford City Council who leases the premises from Semperian.  The schools were constructed by Jarvis Ltd and FM services are provided by SPIE/Hochtief FM UK Ltd, with catering services supplied by Chartwells Ltd.
